With the COVID-19 pandemic well underway, vital services such as grocery stores are taking steps to help ensure the safety of both their customers and staff.
The Ocracoke Variety Store is one of them.
Owner Tommy Hutcherson said today (March 22) that the the store will remain open for all who want to shop as usual. Also, store hours have changed. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
And for those who do not wish to enter the store to do their shopping, effective immediately, is a new option.
Called “TEXT 4 PICK UP, “ here is how it works:
- Text Tommy at 252-921-0282 your order during the store’s business hours.
- Be specific with your list.
- In the message, include your name along with the make, model and color of the vehicle that will pick up the goods.
- List your form of payment: cash, credit or store charge.
- A Variety Store staffer will bring your purchases to your vehicle.
“Please cautious and stay safe during these uncertain times and as always,” Hutcherson said, “we appreciate your business.”
