Occupancy, meals collections continue to smash records
(Dare County Tourism Board)
The monthly Dare County Tourism Board recap of occupancy and food collections is getting to be something of a broken record. And the recently released October data were no exception.
As Outer Banks Visitors Bureau Executive Director Lee Nettles points out during the recap, the October 2021 numbers mark the 17th straight month of record occupancy revenues and the 10th consecutive record-breaking month of meals revenues.
The October 2021 occupancy numbers came in at $43.8 million dollars, a 6% increase over the 2020 numbers. But it’s worth noting that those 2020 occupancy numbers were themselves up a whopping 83% over the previous year.
The Oct. 2021 meals collections totaled $29.1 million, and that was up significantly (30%) over the bottom line for 2020.
